In Memoriam 2014

In Memoriam 2014

£19.99

Format: DVD

In Memoriam 2014 is a dance film created in response to the centenary of World War One by a cast from the world- renowned Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Directed by dance scholar Valerie Preston-Dunlop and film-maker Roswitha Chesher, this film captures the essence of a movement choir created by 100 dancers and musicians aged nine to eighty, performing in the sculptured amphitheatre at Trinity Laban's Faculty of Dance in London.
In Memoriam 2014 follows the tragic consequences of cultures unable to coexist with others different from themselves and the role of children and mature people in the aftermath of war through a series of metaphors in movement and sound:

Dedication of the Space
Five Celebrations of Difference
Confrontation and War
Procession of the Dying
Dance of Innocence
War Memorials
Dance of Mourning
Possibility of Coexistence

The original is an hour-long event, drawing in part on the post-WWl choreographic ideas and methods of Rudolf Laban. The experience of creative participation across the age groups, led by rehearsal directors from Trinity Laban, is a central purpose of the event. The environment with its industrial decay and urban renewal, wet grass, wind on flesh, traffic noise, brass playing and the human voice contributed to the physicality and veracity of the experience for the cast.

This DVD is an abridged version running for just under 30 minutes.

[Coded for world-wide use on PAL compatible equipment.]
