Caravaggio. Vladimir Malakhov, Staatsballett Berlin.
Published: 2009 A ballet in two acts choreographed by Mauro Bigonzetti, with music by Bruno Moretti after Monteverdi. The ballet has as its focal point the life of the Italian 16th/17th century painter: in the first act Bigonzetti uses motifs from bustling Italian life, as portrayed in some of Caravaggio's paintings, including the Roman Carnival. In the second act, the choreographer examines the dark inner world that can only be imagined as an intimate place in which the individual's spiritual condition begins to take form.
