Corroboree, complete ballet. New Zeland Symphony Orchestra/James Judd.
Author: Antill, John Published: 2008 The first complete recording of a classic Australian ballet, based on events the composer had witnessed at a genuine corroboree (an aboriginal ceremony involving singing and dancing). Although conceived as a ballet, and completed and performed in concert in 1946, it was not performed as a ballet until 1950, when Rex Reid choreographed it for the Australian National Theatre Ballet. The CD also includes the same composer's An Outback Overture. |
