Ballet Miniatures: Carnival, Egyptian Night, Romeo and Juliet. The Kirov Ballet, etc.
Published: PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION IN FULL BEFORE ORDERING THIS DVD. A DVD, alas, to be treated with extreme caution. It contains two highly dubious realisations of Fokine ballets (by Konstantin Sergeyev) with both poor picture and sound quality. Egyptian Night, recorded in 1988, has the benefit of a stellar cast in Altynai Asylmuratova, Faroukh Ruzimatov, and Margarita Kullik, supported by students from the Vaganova School; Carnival (1986) lacks this asset. The filler, Sergei Vikulov's Romeo and Juliet, is top quality Soviet ham, danced to the Tchaikovsky score by some rather mature members of Leonid Jacobson's Choreographic Miniatures Group. All in all, for specialists and completists only. [Uncoded, for world-wide use on NTSC compatible equipment.] |
