Fiskarena (The Fishermen). Swedish Chamber Orchestra/Petter Sundkvist.
Author: Kraus, Joseph Martin Published: 2007 Although little known today, Joseph Martin Kraus was one of the most gifted and unusual composers of the eighteenth century, whose talent for thematic development, colourful orchestration and theatrical flair caused Haydn to proclaim him one of only two geniuses he knew (Mozart being the other one). This CD couples Kraus's 50 minute ballet Fiskarena (choreographed in Sweden in 1789 by August Bournonville's father, Antoine), with two earlier short pantomime ballets. |
