Based on Alexandre Dumas's autobiographical novel, this ballet was created by John Neumeier for the legendary ballerina Marcia Haydée, one of the great dance actresses of her generation. Originally performed by the Stuttgart Ballet, this 1987 recording film uses Neumeier's own company, the Hamburg Ballet.
