Through the programme children are taught 19 dances and movement exercises. Each dance has a specific theme and focuses on developing children's awareness of their environment. Important issues such as hygiene, healthy eating, road safety, bullying, counting, and personal organisation are addressed, as well as other useful knowledge and skills. The resource is comprised of numerous creative tasks designed to assist teachers and parents alike to fulfil the Early Learning Goals featured in the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage. Although the resource mainly focuses on the physical Development and Creative Development remit of the Foundation Curriculum, it also provides learning opportunities associated with other areas of the curriculum. Each theme is accompanied by a track on the included CD, featuring an array of musical styles from rap to gospel, and the DVD shows all 19 dances performed by professional teacher and dancer Rebecca Gilbertson. |
