Lackschmi, or an Indian Love Tale, complete ballet. Queensland Symphony Orchestra/Werner Andreas Albert.
Author: Nielsen, Ludolf Published: 2006 Although unrelated to his namesake, the more famous Carl Nielsen, Ludolf Nielsen wrote in a similarly tonal idiom to Carl Nielsen's earlier late-romantic works. Lackschmi, first performed at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in 1923, was his greatest stage success. Choreographed by Gustav Uhlendorff and Emil Mobeck (the former also playing the part of the hero), the ballet tells the story of the love of a prince and a slave girl, frustrated by their rival suitors. |
