The first complete recording of an 1896 ballet, originally performed in Lyon, but soon taken up by the Maryinsky Theatre, where the eponymous heroine became one of Karsavina's favourite roles. The story is of two young lovers, finally brought together despite parental disapproval. The disc also includes the ballet music from Saint-Saens' opera Parysatis.
