The choreography of Antony Tudor, focus on four ballets.
Author: Duerden, R Chamberlain Published: 2003 An analytical overview of the ballets created for the stage by Antony Tudor and an in-depth critical analysis of four works: Jardin aux Lilas, Dark Elegies, Pillar of Fire and The Leaves Are Fading. In the development of the argument through the book the author draws on theories of dance and performance, aesthetics and the philosophy of art, and the semiotics of music. The methodology is rooted in an approach indebted to aesthetics, but also takes cognizance of developments in post-structural thought, with reference to issues of gender and subjectivity. Music and Labanotation examples are included. |
