Author: Halffter, Rodolfo Published: 2004 Of Prussian ancestry, Rodolfo Halffter was born in Madrid in 1900 and won an early reputation as a composer. In 1935 he wrote the ballet-pantomime Don Lindo de Almeria, and in 1940, after moving to Mexico, La madrugada del panadero (The Baker's Dawn, both works being collaborations with the poet and writer José Bergamín. Halffter was a friend of Manuel de Falla, whose influence is clearly evident in these scores. |
