Published: An eccentric New York theatre owner has his eye on the beautiful chorus girl Sheila Winthrop (Rita Hayworth), while his wife has her eye on him and Sheila has her eye on the show's choreographer Robert Curtis (Astaire). Having been discovered by his wife, the boss throws Robert into a comedic cover-up that eventually forces Robert to flee into the army. Robert will never get rich as a private, but at least he's out of his predicament ... or is he? Despite press speculation that Astaire and Hayworth might be mismatched, she quickly proved her dancing abilities, and established herself as one of Astaire's best partners.
