CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

We would like to invite potential contributors to submit proposals for papers or practical presentations. The Dance Research Conference is a forum for scholars who are active in dance research. The Conference will be a forum for open dialogue across disciplines connected to the study of dance, enabling the discussion of current research. It is designed to complement the Society’s annual New Scholars Conference and submissions are encouraged from those who feel that they do not fit into the New Scholars category. The committee not only welcomes submissions from those who are attached to an institution, such as a university or college, but also from those who are working independently. There is no specific theme, thereby giving presenters interested in dance the chance to discuss their own work in a receptive and enquiring environment. Both newly completed research and work in progress are welcomed.

Committee: Dr. Helena Hammond, Dr. Helen Julia Minors, Dr Geraldine Morris, Dr. Francis Yeoh

Deadline for submission: Friday 15th February 2008

Guidelines for Proposals

Presentations will not exceed 30 minutes each. Please note that this includes time for discussion of your work. Submissions will be reviewed blind by the committee.

Proposals should include:

• An abstract of your proposed subject for presentation in no more than 500 words

• Indicative bibliography

• Name, contact details, institutional/organisational affiliation/s (if relevant), plus title of presentation on a separate A4 sheet

• Technical requirements

Please send all proposals, preferably in PDF format, to Dr Helen Julia Minors, h.minors@roehampton.ac.uk

We are considering the future disemination of research and it is likely that we will ask presenters whether they wish to publish their paper on our website, or whether they simply would like their abstract to appear. Details forthcoming.
