How to shop
How to search the catalogue
You can either browse or search the catalogue by using the boxes in the blue
banner at the top of the page.
Browsing: The catalogue is divided into approximately 100 Categories (e.g. Ballet videos, Modern dance books)
which can be browsed directly. To make the catalogue more easy to use these categories are grouped
into Subjects (e.g. Ballet, Music for technique class).
To look for titles you are interested in first select a subject from the list in the blue banner
at the top of the page, then click on the Go button. You will then see a list of all the categories
in this subject, click on the categories to browse the books. To see a list of all categories select 'Whole catalogue' from the list.
Searching: Type in a distinctive keyword and press the search button. The search engine
will then look through all the titles, authors and descriptions in the catalogue and produce a list of matching
titles. If your search finds many titles then these will be displayed on several pages which you
can view by using the next page and previous page buttons at the top and bottom of the list.
On the search page you will also see a more advanced search box where you can control
how the search engine searches the catalogue. You can restrict your search to a department (such as Books or CDs);
you can also tell the search engine to only find titles with all of the keywords you type in, or with the
exact phrase you type in. You can also control whether the search engine looks for new titles, secondhand titles or both.
Search tips:
- Check you have spelt your keywords correctly
- Choose a single, distinctive keyword to start
- If you get too many results try putting in more keywords and using the 'all keywords' search
- Only use the exact phrase search of you are certain of the exact spelling
